Pump Selection Help!

Ok, I have another question for you all. Which pump should I use for my 55g? I currently have this one:
url<http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...8531&catid=115>url

I saw somewhere on RC where someone had a 55, and chose to use this:
url<http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=EH1250>url

My question is the pump I have now (top link) fine, or should I go with the bottom one?
Also Is there any other pumps you reccomend, for my set up.

I am going to have a 29g. sump with a 15g. fuge. Thanks!

Also another question,,, What if I used 2 pumps, this way If one failed the other would be able to handle the load, but with combining 2 will the GPH add up?

Just FYI, You don't need to drill a tank to do a CL. There are allot of people here who have posted threads on How-to do a CL without drilled tanks. Do a search adn see what comes up.

Yes if you have two pumps pumping @ 500 gph you will have 1000gph total (of course there is head loss etc.) Some people will even buy a large pump and plimb and run several things oof that one pump. ie. Chiller, Calc Reactor etc. Also keep in mind that some pumps like the sequence pumps actually work better with head pressure so you can go bigger nad dial it back with a gate valve as well. Hope it helps

Thanks! My ideas:
A) Have 2 pumps both in the stand or sump pumping to one outlet
(draw back- dead spots)
b) Have 2 pumps with 2 returns in both corners ( This will kindof be a CL system but not really lol)

Thanks! Soo much
Hey can a gate valve and ball valve be used interchangably?

I follow the principle of KISS. Keep it simple. On that small of a tnak you can easily get wway with one nice return pump with multiple outlets. You can even have a device such as a SQWD that alternates the current from one side to the other. Really you are only limited by your imagination and budget.

PS IMO both valves are interchangable adn both have their own benifits

which model? I don't have a ton of experience with quiet one but I have never heard anything negative about them though. The wattage to GPH seems high. Anyone?

eheim pumps are the best I would say. I love mine. They are very quiet, very efficient, and don't heat you tank up. If you need something for a closed loop you would probably want something bigger though

Thanks so the general thought is that what I have is fine, for a 55g sump return?
