I agree with this, I have 17 tangs total right now in my 300 (they are all smaller) They are great together and pose no problems with any of the other 30 fish in the tank, including my hefrichis and my mated pipefish. They all get along great and will be moving to my new tank (the 800) soon. I plan to add several more when I move them to the new tank. My current tang stock list is:

5 blues
1 yellow belly blue
2 yellows
1 black
1 "koi" tang
1 purple
1 tenneti
1 jardini
1 dussemeri
1 chevron
1 tomini

If done right they are great together every one of my tangs will eat from my hand.

I have no idea what a tenneti, dussemeri, or a tomini tangs are? Do you have links to pictures of these types by any chance? And how did you score a black tang??

Thanks!!

Cool. That is what I thought, I haven't learned all the names yet to some of the tangs. Like the Dussumier I only know as a eye stripe. Anyway, thanks for the links.

I would be really interested in finding a Black Tang and a Dussumier Tang. So, if you have a good connection with a supplier then I would greatly appreciate a little help!!!!!

That is the coolest tank ever. I love your list of tangs, and your fish room is well designed. I like your aquascaping because it really shows how deep your tank is and the tangs wont be swimming back and forth in front of a rock wall, but around and behind your rocks. The rocks placed like you have them in the foreground and back ground is really cool. Do you think you could show us a complete list of all the fish you plan to add, and maybe some inverts too?(exclude cleaning crew of course) Thanks!

I don't mean to hijack Bstones thread but I love Tangs as well. I'll be adding 2-3 to my new 240 in the next few weeks. What do you mean " if done right. " What is the right way?

If done in the proper order....most aggressive last. Notice in the list of tangs I have there are none that are "real" aggressive, the koi tang and the purple tang are the most aggressive because they are the same (zebrosoma) but the koi is much bigger than the purple so it is not a problem. I did'nt add them in any special order, I just put them in as I got them. If you get some "real" aggressive tangs (clown, sohal, etc) then you might want to think about in what order they will go in. Although I don't think it is as big of a deal as most people make it out to be....just my .02

I agree. I have a Sohal, but he is a medium size, and not bigger then the rest of hte fish. I would never get a Clown, every one I see wants to fight. They are very agressive! In my old tank I had a Powder Blue, Sohal, Sailfin, and a Lavender. My biggest mistake was making the Sohal the biggest fish. He dominated the tank, but after a awhile the pecking order was established and the other tangs knew where they could and couldn't go. So, its all about what mix you get, what sizes you get, and the order at which you add them. But, I can speak from experience, keeping them fed ALOT will help out with aggresion.... In the end, each fish has its own personality!

Talk about personality...I hve a blue eye kole that hasn't come out of the rockwork for more than 30 seconds in the past two weeks. Then last night I sneak up on the reef and there he is out-and-about. When he realized I was watching he darted into the rocks, but then later I found him out again like he was just "one of the boys" so I guess it is finally coming out of his "shell". Such a beautiful fish and I thought I might never see it!

People (people outside reefing) think I am crazy when I say that my fish have very strong personalities, and each of them are different. I swear that my Vlamingi and I carry on conversations.
