OCTOBER NTOTM Contest >> Enter Now!

Thanks to everyone who voted for my tank in septembers NTOTM contest, here is a link to my thread:
http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...6#post10922066

Now it's your turn. You spend countless hours designing, building, stocking, maintaining, and simply watching your nano reef – not to mention the $$$. It’s time that you finally give your tank the recognition it deserves. If you’d like to match up your nano with some of the most beautiful tanks in the world, then post your favorite FULL TANK SHOT right here in this thread.

The “rules” for October's Nano Tank of the Month contest are as follows:

- There will be no specific theme for this contest (so we can expect MANY entries).
- You must have a nano reef tank between 5 to 30 gallons to enter. TOTAL SYSTEM VOLUME NOT TO EXCEED 40 GALLONS.
- Your nano tank should be greater than 3 months old.
- You should not enter if you have already won a NTOTM contest in 2007.

o FYI, December’s contest will decide the Nano Tank of the Year amongst all ‘07s winners.

Here’s how to enter:

- Post 1 FTS and 3 additional tank photos of your choice. These could be macro shots, setup shots, night shots, etc. That's 4 TOTAL.
- Post a brief description of your tank’s specs (i.e. how many gallons, age, model, pumps, lighting, etc.)

On October 21st, I’ll select 5 finalists based on the photos and feedback from the RC community (with the help of the past winners). The ultimate winner will be decided by online voting, which will run until midnight of the last day of the month.

*Even if you don’t think you’ll win - just by entering - your tank can gain world wide exposure! You might be modest, but your reef deserves the attention ; ) So let’s see those tanks!!!

It's a little different, but I think for the most part it was cut and paste

Not trying to argue or be cocky, but how is it different? I got a few nice small colonies since last months contest, but I don't think there's enough of a change to warrant entering this months if it's the same rules.

This is my 15 month old 14 gallon Bio-Cube. I added a MJ 900 and upgraded the lights to a 70 watt sunpod HQI.

hobbz, i havent been following this contest for very long and wasnt aware that i should change the rules drastically. I wasnt given much instruction on what to do so you know what? I think you should help me make the new rules if youre that worried about it. PM me with your suggestions.

ActinopteryGuy, how big of a leeway are we talking here? Your reef doesnt look too "nano" to me, in the nano-reef handbook (not sure how reputable this book is but its the only nano book i've ever read) it says to be qualified as nano a tank must have 15 gallons or less volume so 40 gallons is already really stretching it. I want to stick to at maximum 34g in the display (to allow for RSM tanks) to really stress the amount of care that goes into keeping an extra small volume of water in pristine condition.

sorry thought that it was up to a 40g tank. I guess the rules changed. sorry about that. If I am still eligible then great if not then oh well. If sopmeone can respond and let me know that would be great, so i can post more pics.

I hate to say no because it really limits the amount of entries but i really really would like to keep it as close to nano as i can and 40g is not small in my opinion. Sorry Jimsta, keep posted though in case we have trouble getting entries then maybe the rules will change in your and acinopteryguy's favor.

Thanks guys. If 40g ever gets in there then I will be posting more pics. I know it kinda seems bigger than a nano but it is smaller then a regular sized tank, I need a small tank of the month category.

What if your total system volume is under 5g?

well i was considering making it 2.5g-30g but then that would be more pico-oriented and then people would want .5g to go in there as well so what i will say is: Going on the premise of small water volume difficulties we can just assume .5g-30g as nano and its all good.

I have a Current 24G Aquapod with 150W MH Lighting. I have had it for about 6 months. It is pretty much "stock". The only thing I have added is a Prism HOB skimmer and a HOB 20G filter. 20 lbs of sand & 30 lbs of LR. I was origianally going to go strictly SPS but decided against it.

Hey all! My tank has finally "matured" enough (just hit 3 months old) to be entered into this contest. Here's some info on the setup:

Nanocube 12g DX with stock lighting (48W 50.50 PC)
Chamber 1: Mini-jet 606 (drilled false wall and installed bulkhead)
Chamber 2: Mini-refugium with chaeto (lit from back with azoo palm light)
Chamber 3: Replaced stock pump with mini-jet 606 and bag of Chemi-pure

There have been some fantastic entries so far... Here are my entry pics. Good luck to all!

A quick note to the Rule Maker:

- The RSM has 29g in the display tank.

- The Cadlight 34 has about 25g in the display tank.

No need to stretch the 30g rule for these new All-in-One's...
