Dude, the GEO 624 is like $50 more, it is well worth it, you may be able to do the GEO 618, but IMO, the GEO 624 is worth it.

Yeah, I know it's only $50 more. The reason I'm asking if I can get away with the 618 is because I'm not sure if I'll be able to fit the 624 under my stand. If the dimensions that GEO posted on their website for the 624 are accurate, it's already a tight fit. If it's just a bit bigger, I'm SOL

You will have no problems at all maintaining your alk/calcium levels with a 618. I had a 612 on my last tank (150g) and it was full of sps. The 618 is even larger than the 612, thus you will be fine. My 612 should be here today. Can't wait to set it up!

Maximus - thanks for your reponse. that's very helpful!
May I ask a few follow-up questions? - Where'd you order your 612 from? - What size CO2 tank are you running? - What media will u run in the reactor? - Any recs on the regulator/solenoid? Thanks! |

I ordered the reactor from Premium Aquatics. The reactor set up will come with a 10lb co2 bottle and the Reef Fanatic Deluxe regulator w/solenoid. I will be running the larger Gen-X media with it. I prefer the large media as the smaller media tends to turn to mush for me.

Maximus, how do you like the reactor so far? What about your Reef Fanatic Regulator?
Thanks |

I have the 618 and the reef fanatic regulator, and love them they are both very high quality and easy to use, I also hooked up the reef fanatic PH controller, easiest system ever to use.
I would think a 618 would be plenty for you, I have a lot of SPS and keep mine dialed all the way down to 30/ml per minute on the effluent. I wouldn't think a 180 stuffed would be to much for a 618. Just my 2 cents

Blankenship, Thanks for your experiences! As it turns out, since I originally posted this thread, I mocked up a 618 with cardboard, and I just can't squeeze it into my stand due to its height. I will have to go with a 612, but i figure it's not that big of a difference. it uses the same recirc pump, but holds less media. I will just have to refill more often.
Did you have a Schuran JS1 at one point? I, too, was looking at that, but am hesitant to purchase due to the need for a peri-pump for it. How would you rate the JS1 to the 618? BTW, if you're still looking for a rainbow monti, here's a link for ya: http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...readid=1272782 |

I really like the GEOs, I am over all Schuran equipment their customer services and prices are out of whack in comparison to comparable equipment.
Also the GEO is just a lot easier to use.
