procedure for lugol's dip?

I have a hammer with some sort of infection ... it has some dreaded brown jelly type substance.

I've heard that a lugol's dip would help, but I can't seem to find the correct procedure? I've tried searching, but only found threads with people talking about it ...

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

go into the search engine, look under zoo dip and mucho reef I think. There they go into great depth about the dip.
