probably a silly question

I have added a plate coral to my tank, and in no time at all it has fully extended and is looking great. It is about 5 inches long and 4 inches wide...kind of football shaped.

Anyway, this morning I get up and cannot see my two clown fish. Upon closer inspection, one has wallowed a slight trench on the edge of the plate and is "hiding" among the polyps. The other clown fish has bedded down on top and is having a grand old time. I guess they have adopted the plate coral.

Silly Question...Will they hurt or distress the plate coral too much? I was told that they would stress out the coral and kill it.

Thanks,

Ray

I've never heard of anything good of them housing in a plate coral.

Usually clowns hosting in LPS will harm and sometimes kill them.

Ya sounds to bad. Just send the coral to me. =) JK.

I do wish you the best of luck with that. Hope everything works out.

Well, today I returned my plate coral to the LFS. I just could not see keeping it with the clowns beating it up. The store allowed me to swap it for a beautiful fox coral. I think I'm going to invest in a smaller tank for the clowns and maybe an anemone. I hate not being able to keep hammers, torches and others because my clowns want to host.

Thanks for the advice. Upon close inspection of the plate this morning, I felt it needed a quieter home.
