Unhappy Sick Starfish! HELP!!!!

Alright, so heres the deal. I bought a beautiful marble starfish from beyond the reef on friday. Upon acclimation, I noticed it had a little white "thing" hanging from the middle of it on the outside. After a day or so, I noticed that this "thing" grew. It no longer looked like a flap or skin or whatnot. I assume its an infection and it has grown each of the past few days until now its looking like its about to put a hole right through the starfish. I contacted Beyond The Reef and they have been very generous to help compensate me if this fella goes down. But, is there anything that I can do to prevent this growing infection in the starfish. Freshwater dip perhaps? Thats all i can think of. If you have any suggestions, please, fire away. Thanks

My experience with starfish seems to be hit or miss, and I think others have had the same experiences with them. I can't think of anything to do to help him, but do not do a freshwater dip. It would be lethal to the star. Good water parameters should help him along.

Do not do a FW dip you will kill the star as fast as putting a guy to it!!! Stars are amazing animals that can fight off most infections so just make sure you have your water perfect and make sure he has food available to him and let it go and see what happens.
