What can I use for a skinny sump?
I am setting up a 33L (48x12x12") and I have a stand AGA black pine stand which limits me to a sump with a width of 10-11". The only standard glass tank that would fit is a 10g which doesn't give me enough room for what I want to put in it. I am looking for suggestions where I could get something longer that would fit.

Best bet would be to build what you want out of acrylic. Or have someone build it for you. You might try getting Fade2Black make you one, he has been making frag tanks for several of the local reefers.

Hi,
I have the same problem. My stand area underneath my tank is only 47"x12"x15". The only thing I think I can do is make two smaller acrylic tanks and put them together with a couple of bulkheads so the water will flow between. I need to have two smaller tanks so I can insert one, push it in the stand then insert the other one behind it, and bolt(bulkheads) the two of them together. I am playing around with the dimensions now but it looks like each will be 18"x10"x12". These will house my skimmer, heater, refugium. If you are designing your own sump spend some time to learn how it will work especially if you have some baffles built in. I will probably have Fade2black make mine. Dave |
