How long do you go before changing your RO/DI filters?

I have a 210 that I started last January using my current RO/DI filters. Am I correct in thinking that it is time for them to be replaced. I have the color changing DI stuff and I think it has completely changed.
Do they typically last about a year?

i just got off the phone with one of the guys from the filter guys. He said that they should be changed every six months or until the TDS starts to climb. They are very nice there and very helpfull. I have not ordered from them yet but i will when i am ready.

the RO membrane can last a few years depending on your water quality. Do you have a pressure gauge? You should change your filters when you notice a constant drop in pressure, or aim for every 6 months. Do you have a TDS meter? You should test the DI output and change your DI resin when it starts to read 1 or above. It will also depend on how much water you are running through the system. The more water, the more often you will need to change them.

I don't have a TDS meter, although it sounds like it would be a good idea.
I filled a 210 gallon tank, plus at least 2 gallons of water evaporate a day, plus a couple of water changes, so it has probably passed 1000 gallons since I set it up.
Are the filter guys better/cheaper than airwaterice.com?

Don't know if cheaper, but I buy all my filters from Filter Guys (I have a spectrapure unit). I also change everything (filters, not membrane) ~ 6 or 7 months by default. Membrane is still running solid, Chicago water is pretty good. The carbon block, DI, and micron filter are something like $30 from Filter Guys and shipping is pretty cheap.

the TDS meter tells you when it is time to change. I have changed out my DI resin twice in the last two years, but I am just now changing the other parts for the first time in 2 years. I do take them out and rinse them every so often though. I know people will balk at this post, but it is the truth. To me a TDS reading of 002 is not a killer so I draw them out as long as I can.

Same here, it's been about 2 years since I've changed mine. TDS are still fairly low but it takes over 5 hours to make 5g of water. I just got some new filters this weekend.
