Did you change the colors of things?

i never adjust the colors of corals. i dont like giving a misrepresentation of the tank. every now and then i get one where the white balance is out of whack and it makes the coral yellow. i dont post them as they are untrue and usually ugly.

The pictures are amazing.

thank you, i just got a reply from Rick (rpierce) and he says he is very happy with them as well.

What are those big things in the tank, that look like huge mushrooms?

they are montipora capricornis, one of the easiest fastest growing SPS corals. i really like the plating look. he has a few different colors and textures. its hard to tell in the pics, but some of them have a little different color polyp (from others that look just like them) that gives them a slightly different appearance in person. you can see in the pic below one of the green caps, that actually has white-ish polyps, which make it really stand out compared to the other green ones he has.

I'm going to buy a few of these anemones. They look so pretty. They max out at about 2", so they won't take over the tank or anything.

Mini carpet anemone species Stichodactyla tapetum (that mimic Ricordea). Care is very similar to that for Ricordea.

No, I just copied it from the guy who's selling them. I guess he explained it that way so people know how to take care of them.

Hey, I finally got a claw. Was able to get one Limpet, but there are two more I can't get to. I went to battle with the mantis, no win yet, but he has sealed up his hole. Much less clicking. Not sure what that means.

You saw it....you're absolutely sure it's a mantis and not a pistol?
That's great you got one of the limpets. They are really hard to get out without the claw. They sure have strong suction, don't they!?

I actually had better luck with tongs on the limpets. I had two that wouldn't move out of this little crevice but they must have run out of things to eat and move just to the top of the rock. When I grabbed the first one, it's grip was so tight that it started to lift the biggest rock I have off the tank bottom!

My mantis does that too. Every once in a while I'll see him repositioning some rocks at the entrance so I can't get close to him then he sticks his head out from some other part of the rock. This is going to take me some time.

well the bright side to having a resident mantis is that you have in-house gorilla crab cleaning...

here's a pic of one of my unlucky mithrax crabs with only a single claw and leg still attached...

I got a red flashlight at Wal*Mart tonight. I guess I'll give it a try tonight when I get home. Another late night working.

why don't you just crush the limpets against the rock and let the hermits do the rest?

I move my limpets to the sump, they do a good job of keeping that clean. Of course some of their babies might make it to the main tank, but I'll deal with that if it ever happens.

I really only got a LOT of limpets with part 1. I got them all out that I know of. I believe we only got about 3 of them with part 2.
I haven't seen any in the tank in a few months now, so I think they're all gone.
I did a water change today in the new tank. I did it all by myself, and it only took like 10 minutes.
I only asked Bob to help dump the three 5g buckets I had filled with the old tank water because I did't want my back to go out again trying to lift them.
I still contend I should have rinsed that sand before I put it in the tank. After the water change, I tried moving some of it where it all blows out of place from the Tunze, and it created a fog again in that spot. I thought once some bacteria built up on it, I wouldn't have that problem, but it still looked like smoke coming from it when I moved it.

yes - those pictures suck - Here's what I would do to them to fix it - nothing!

for many of my diving pictures that need help - I do one or both of two things 1) use autolevels and smart sharpen

what are the things at the end of the maxijets?

here are a few of the best of the group.
any criticism on these pics?
