And you can't get it? You'd think with less legs, it would be slower to run away. lol

No, I missed! The sucker wouldn't come out all the way in the open for me to get him with the claw. I think even with 1 leg it can probably move faster around the rocks than me with the claw.

I'm not grabbing that crab in my hands. The very little ones yeah but not this one. It likes to stay between 2 rocks and I can't really get my hand in there anyway.

Bob, even the teeniest pistols make a HUGE click. You'd be surprised how loud they are.
I bet you do have a bunch of them. I had to really look closely, and that's when I discovered my dozen+. Most were only ¼-½"...that's it.
I see molts all the time from them too. Some are green, some are grey, some red and some transparent!

Oh, I thought I was the only one afraid to grab them. That makes me feel good that a man is too!

Don't worry about it Dennis...I wouldn't stick my hands in there to get the crab either. Can you lure it into a jar or bottle with some shrimp?

Believe me, I'm not worried or ashamed. Those darn things aren't much different than a spider to me and the only thing a spider sees on me is the bottom of my shoe.

I tried a bottle trap and it didn't catch anything. I may try it again though. I would like to get some of the smaller crabs out but they are too small for the claw.

That pool has so much pollen on it now. Believe it or not, our trees just opened up last week. I'd go 10 miles west of me or even to Riverhead, and they were in full bloom! Only the maples were in full bloom here...the scrub oaks JUST opened. Usually Bob vacuums it once every 2 weeks whether it needs it or not. He's been doing it almost every day for the past week....because the pollen junk sinks to the bottom of the pool...and then there are all those pollywogs that fall from the trees too. YUK!
I don't go in the pool. Just once in a blue moon. I think I went in it 2 summers ago.
I find all kinds of creatures in it anyway.....so TBS would just add to the diversity!
You're the diver, so you'd have to do it. Danielle, Dennis and myself won't touch the crabs, so we'd never be able to dive and collect the stuff!

Imagine the skimmer you would need for that size tank

We missed our pollen dusting this year. Last year you could see it floating in the air, and all our cars, trucks and pools had yellow gross dust on them.

If I have some good gloves on I'll grab stuff but not bare handed.

Pat, I got a frag of these from a local reefer who LOVES zoas. I don't know if she does shipping, but I can PM you details if you are interested. It is an excellent grower in my tank It sits on the sandbed under my 175MH and it started out as 3 big polyps and 2 small and is now 12 big polyps and 5 small in about 3 months time

krajacich,

I used the zoa dip that patsan linked to, posted by MUCHO REEF and it WORKS! I had one colony in severe decline with no polyps opened for at least 2 weeks. I have done the dip on it twice and there are now 5 polyps opening and a couple of new ones forming. Never saw anything fall off during the dips, but some people say the lugols has some medicinal properties to it. I don't know if it is true, but considering the dip reversed declines in 3 of my zoa colonies, I'm going to continue using it when needed.

B.

Totally fine with being a wimp...it means I don't have to touch those hairy yucky gorillas!

I didn't have a problem touching it once it was out of the tank. I just couldn't muster up the nerve to grab it while it was in there.
I actually made it pose for the pictures I took of it.

i took a couple of pics for a friend the other day. i really like his tank, and it was very photogenic. i couldnt figure photoshop out (first time using it + didnt have much time = not a perfect turn out) so a few of my pictures are a little uneven, and there are a few shots that should have things cropped out of them.

here are a few of the best of the group.

any criticism on these pics?

What did you do with photoshop? Did you change the colors of things?
The pictures are amazing.
What are those big things in the tank, that look like huge mushrooms?
