The start of a 120"L X 30"W X 36"T Tank
This is a journal for my New Tank. The tank is a little shy of 600 gallons and will be a FOWLR tank that will replace my 380 gallon aquarium. I've learned alot throughout the years from many diferent places and want to share my experiences and what I've done so others can learn or find better ways of setting up large tanks and it's always good to hear your guys feedback. I know you guys like pictures therefore I will try to post as many as time allows.
Tank Info: The tank was made by Tenecor and measures 120"L X 30"W X 36"T and is made out of 1" acrylic. The tank has two 24" trapezoid overflows with four 1.5" drains and four 3/4" returns. Here are some pictures from the tank move: For Referece the tank on the Left is a 380 gallon aquarium. Last edited by z28pwr; 12/06/2006 at 03:17 PM. |

The Stand:
I had some issues with the wood stand and had a new steel stand built. The stand measures 121"L X 31"W X 43"T and is made out of 2" X 2" X 1/4" thick square tubing and was made by a local Fabrication Shop called Oval Components (Thanks Jared). The stand was picked up today and dropped off to get Lynex coated. I only had my cell phone therefore the pictures aren't that great: I got the following hardware in for the tank so far: Hammerhead Pump PVC Fittings An Additional 125 LBS Of Liverock to be combined with my current 400 LBS. An Additional 130 LBS of Crushed Coral Dan's AquaPlex 130 Gallon Sump (4) 160 Watt 5' SuperAtinic URI VHO Bulbs (2) 160 Watt 5' 10K URI VHO Bulbs Unfortunately I could not Fit a G6 under my stand therefore I settled for a G5 but I think it will get the Job Done. Got some fish in aswell that are in the QT tank: (3) Yellow Tangs (1) Lavender Tang (1) Powder Blue Tang (1) Scopas Tang (1) Orange Shoulder Tang To add to my other fish. |

7" Vlamingi Tang 7" Palani Tang 3" Scopas Tang Pair Of Maroon Clowns 5" Powder Blue Tang 4" Orange Shoulder Tang 3" Lavender Tang (3) Yellow Tangs This is what I would like to add: (3)Atlantic Blue Tangs Naso Tang Sohal Tang Small Clown Trigger Harlequin Tusk Regarding Nitrates they should take care of themselves with all the LiveRock and filtration I don't think they will be a problem. On my 380 I did water changes once every blue moon and they were never a problem. Regarding flow inside the tank I will have the Hammerhead pump coming into four 3/4" returns with Penductors attached to them which will create alot of current througout the tank. I will also have two Tunze 6080 streams inside the tank mounted in the overflows. That should be more then enough flow for a FOWLR setup. Quote:

Got the stand back from the LineX shop.
Those guys did some good work: The stand may look small, but look at the wall outlet on the lower right and you can get an idea of it's actual size. The stand is HEAVY my friend and I brought it down from the truck with an engine hoist by ourselves and we broke a 1,000 lb Home Depot furniture dolly while rolling it into the house, but it looks great. Now I just need to get some 3/4" Plywood for the top and bottom. I also picked up the Sump From Dan's Aquaplex Now that I think about it I should probably add a buble trap even though the sump is 7FT long and the water will have 5FT for the bubles to escape I should probably put a trap to be on the safe side. It was a good day today, hopefully I can get the plywood tomorrow and get the tank on the stand by the weekend. |

At first I though it was going to be like one of those old contests where you see how many can fit in a phone booth or VW bug but instead into a tank!
