55 gallon (allglass) reef? drill it?

Hey guys i'm getting a bigger tank 4 my cichlids soon (200 gallon)
and want to use my old 55 gallon tank(glass) for my saltwater fish and corals. I red about "reef ready tanks?" do i have to drill the tanks? or could i just run piping and stuff? Can i just put a couple powerheads and the skimmer? and a big filter?

RR is there so you can easily add a sump without a siphon overflow. You can always add a siphon overflow, or just not have a sump.
