can I house anything with a 48", 2x54 T5?

Im going to be buying my retro's one at a time..........as I cant just drop 500 bucks up front on a single system.......and I was just wondering if i can house anything with just one retro between buying the other two......

Yes some softies, zoos, shrooms and maybe LPS up high but you should ask before you buy.

I think you will. A option that might work for you to start is to just mount both bulbs in the middle and just make sure everything is under the center. Then when you are ready to add the next set you can shift them either back or forward and add the second set. I have seen SPS growing under NO lighting, so it can be done.

That should be more than fine for simple stuff. I have a 75 gallon, and my mushrooms are actually growing under a single 32 watt normal output strip light that came with the tank.

Check the used forum an di think you coulg get a 4x54w IC for around 200 or so. I've gotten all my lights used, 4x48" IC with a 660 and a 250w reefstar with a 20k radium and IC250 ballast all for 315 bux, so it can be done.
