My tank smells....

It is low tide in my house hold. I am new to the whole sump thing and wanted to get some suggestions on maybe how to clean it.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.....

Describe your set up. If you have a skimmer excessive skimate will smell like low tide.

probably a buildup of nutriants or excess algae/crud out of the water like under the top tank rim, overflows etc..... I had that problem a while back....everything checked ok, but still smelled .....I did more water changes, cut back feedings, changed the carbon more often,phosban/purigen 24/7 and wet skimming = no more smells.

Thanks guys, sorry I was not able to comment earlier, my home computer has crashed beyond repair. Do not want to do a fresh install until after I figure out if anything is recoverable.
