A DSB has done the job for me. It has helped reduce my nitrate level to 0, I have mine in a remote refugium and not in the main display as I dont care for the look in my display. I used around 7 inches of Oolitic Aragonite. HTH

There isnt a "quick" answer to your Q. It will take a little time and research for you to decide if a DSB is right for your tank.
Check out this link as a starting point, but there is a ton of debate/literature spread through out the net. I would do some serarching before I decide. http://www.ronshimek.com/Deep%20Sand%20Beds.htm

Sounds good after reading that. I think I am going to go with the dsb. I wasnt clear how deep it is supposed to be though.
