Too many e-mails.

I have changed the setting in my options that enables e-mails to be sent to me whenever a thread is updated.

This is the option:

"Use 'Email Notification' by default?
Using this option emails you whenever someone replies to a thread that you have participated in."

I figured "NO" would get me the desired result of no e-mails, but it doesn't.
Yes doesn't matter either.

Thanks, Ben

That turns on/off whether you're automatically subscribed to every post that you make. The only way to not get emails is to not use subscriptions.

Subscription == email

Dooood, that sucks. What a PITA. I was just wanting to know how to turn the email spammer off as well.

It is a huge PITA, no other foruma I am on do that!

I subscribe to threads so I can keep an eye on certain threads, but I don't want to know via e-mail every time a thread is updated! (I know it only updates with the first new one)

I would change my e-mail address here, but I don't want to lose e-mails whenI get a pm.

It's the version of the software and there have been so many hacks done to it to give us what we all enjoy now that's it's difficult to just plug in an off the shelf upgrade without losing some of those hacked features.

I just deal with it by not subscribing to any thread and hence my signature. Also it's not a good idea to direct your RC mail and mark it as spam since that may lead to RC getting blocked by some providers.

I set up a rule in outlook Express to move any email from Reef Central to a separate folder.

Good idea.

I think I may donate this year, the forum could use some more cash to run better.

Almost all of the forums I am on have good search features that always work, and they are much more sophisticated. Until I donate I will quit complaining.
