UV light full time?

My question is this. I am running a full time UV light on our 135 tank. Is this necessary? Is it a bad thing?

Thanks.

How many watts is it? Most units out there do little to prevent or even make a difference. In order for an UV machine to be effective, the wattage would have to be incredibly high and the water would have to run through it really really slow.

In other words, you will be fine leaving it on 24/7.
