little green "balloons" on my rock???

I just noticed in the last day that there are what I can only descrive as several little ballons attched to my live rock. There are probably 4-5 ranging is size from a BB the size on an eraser on the end of a pencil. Never seen before. Can anyone tell me what they are and if I have a problem.

sounds like bubble algae to me. if you pop it it will proliferate. emerald crabs worked well for me.

Before they multiply gently pry them loose without bursting the bubble.
If you do not act on this your tank will have many green bubbles and the resulting mess will be hard to cure. Algae uncontrolled can effect the entire eco system and your chemistry.

If they do end up popping most Tangs love to eat the algae.I have a Kole tang he took care of it all.

I have had luck with covering them in joes juice/kalk paste. Just let it sit on the bugger and it seems to kill the spores. Have had only one bubble appear in the last 9 months in my 3 tanks.

Thanks for all the replies. It is bulb algea and I already followed the method of removal suggested and they are all out of the tank - for now. I will keep a close eye on it. Thanks again

I know many people have had issues with bubble algae. For about the last 5 years I've had what I guess in comparison is a chronic mild infestation. I kind of like mine.
