maybe the tank with the syphon is tempered? i dont know for sure though. it looks like your getting a lot of flack for doing things how you wanted them to be in the first place, i mean you are doing this yourself so you know how you want the system to operate. i probably wouldnt do things the same way but its cool to see the way other people do things. i think those lights are a neat idea, something i might add in later. i might not put mine up front like you did but nifty none the less. are they 120v ac lights and where did you get them?

he said his tank room is uninsulated and will go as low as 60 degrees and it looks to be a pretty big volume, justifing the 6 smaller heaters

I like the idea of a pre filter in the overflows. And also I had them previous to the drill bits, bulk head fittings

i unfortunatly have had trouble with maxi mods, (my own version not mjmods). i have put alot of time into making them work and know what is wrong but .. i have put considerable thought into purchasing tunzes - nano ones - but im upgrading and contemplating going 6000-6100 vs nanos vs mj's. i think you will be happy with an engineered piece of equipment, with the quailty and name like tunze.

Nice equipment purchase. my shopping cart is big than that right now with me planning an upgrade from a 55 to a 180. Good luck a buddy of mine has a Tunze Skimmer (not sure of the model) and loves it

Update
Today I purchased some pine for my canopy (cheap)
I was wondering what can I use for a sealant for the inside. I am looking for something that seals the mositure out and is white. Please help! Also here is an update I hope to add water and check for leak in the next few days. |

I like the thought and effort your putting into your tank. Question on your GFI setup - How do you have it wired? Do you have it in series (daisy-chained) or parallel? Reason I ask is that if daisy chained, then when the first one trips, wouldn't the rest on the load side of the GFI be cutoff from the power?
I have my tank on a circuit and only have the return pump not GFI protected so if it trips, there is some water circulation going on. Having 6 heaters seems a little much. Just a thought but ever think about using a mag pump in sump? The do put heat into the water. It can reduce dependence of heaters - though they are not marketed in that sense. My heaters kick on mostly in winter when ambient room temp dips below 71. Again just a thought.

I just read my post and it may appear like criticism.. that wasn't my intention. You're doing a great job with your setup and sharing of your experience with the build.

The GFI's are in par. not series.

man i have to give it up for you. this whole build out is truly for the fearless and this is where some new ideas come from. just an honest question, if you were to build it all over again, what would you change?
and redundacy is good but too much can almost be as bad. as an radio engineer, we have redundacy also and all over the place to keep our stations on the air but one time everything that could have failed DID because of a dominoe effect.

I would have done the sump diffrent one tank. But I had one of the tanks already and the main thing is I have limited space at my place.
Also the TUNZE streams are alot larger then i thought. I am hopeing to test next week. Also If I did it all over again I would have got a larger tank |

I think we'd all get larger tanks if we do it all over again
