I did the mod with the quickie pad for grills on a G3 a while back (this thread was only 4 pages). Works ok but I expected much better. What mesh material seems to be working best? (sorry if this it the 1,000,001 time this has been asked) And where can I get it?

As far as the ceramic shaft breaking, it actually helped me when mine broke. First half of the shaft came out with the volute, second stayed in the pump which made it easier to reinstall the impeller. Then it was just a matter of slipping the shaft back into the impeller with the volute still attached and twist and done. Didn't seem to affect running the pump at all. HTH

Anyone have an idea how much air a stock, recirced sp4/gen-x4100 pulls? I know the euroreef site has some numbers, but I was curious if anyone actually measured it. Thanks!

Got this stuff in at work today looks exactly the same as the black mesh and comes in a 50' roll by like 36" wide.

I'm gonna try it on my ASM G4X this coming weekend.

Not sure of the price yet man its a new product we are using on or houses it goes inbehind wood siding to let it breath comes with like a 50 year warenty so should do ok in a pump I get it in rolls of 36"x 50 feet prolly not cost effective for one skimmer but one roll would go a long way...lol its made of plastic nylon really strong hard to rip.
I'm sure its not crazie price we are doing a 7000 sq foot house in it prolly like 50 bucks a roll.

well I couldn't wait for the weekend.

huge diference in bubbles the skimmer body is packed top to bottom now I had to drop the exit water tube three inches it over flowed as soon as I turned it on.

half an hour and its already making the dark stuff.

need someone with an air flow metre to try it and see how it compares to the other stuff.

do you have one Randy I'll mail you some and you can see how it compares.

Man I wish I did. I bought one, but it was way too inaccurate. I got one that read 10 - 100 ... not accurate enough for us so I sold it.

I'm going to buy another one ASAP.

Do you think that the mesh would be carried by many if not most 'wood siding' contractors? If so they should be able to let some scrap go for little to nothing.

I'm not to sure how many siding guys would be using it.

its not a building code here yet.

I found the label, thought I forgot it at work.

its called home slicker 10 here is their web adress there is a dealer locator on their site.

www.benjaminobdyke.com

they also have another one call home slicker which is more flat

the slicker 10 that I got has a slight wave to it I think it makes it more agressive for our aplication.

Got 4x 8"x11" slicker samples at lunch. Turns out they are the slicker plus which has the tyvac type backing (only type they had). The backing seem to peal off easy enough but there are melt lines every 1/4" inch or so. I'll give it a try and report back.

Thanks Mike,

I will only be able to offer anecdotal observations as I don't have a air meter although I plan on getting one.

Mavgi, Thank you for the mesh. Works awesome. I have a recirculated ASM g3 skimmer with a sedra 5000. It took me about 37 pages of reading the "Meshwheel friggin rocks on Gen-X 4100" thread to gather up enough nuts to cut my needle wheel. I first used a 3m blue scrub pad that worked well. Then I got the mesh and it does work better. My bubble line is huge now. I don't have an air meter to check volume but I do have pics after 10 minutes of skimming. Thanks Mavgi and enjoy.......
