the one thing i may have done wrong is drill 4 additional holes after cutting off the needles to allow me to run the zip ties like you have shown earlier...is this wrong?
no i did the same i drill more 4 holes and it's ok.

how much time i's runing like that ? even if the mod not perfect you still going to pull more air and the foam will be better .

Make sure you build the venturi instead of choking the pump out with the stock Gen-X venturi. Use 1" plumbing for the intake and outlet of the pump as well. 1" thinwall PVC fits perfectly over the outside of the outlet so you can glue it in place with 2part epoxy then use 1" fittings on it...
Perfect. Thanks so much.

you will have more turbulence with the mesh , try to play with the water level in the skimmer body and check the different , do you use air valve control on the air pipe ?

Any pump with an impeller can be modified.

I have a spare G2 with a Sedra 3500. I played around with different mesh mods and I now believe that a different pump would work better. Has anyone one got an idea?

Now your asking for performance data. Sure, the Eheim 1260 pulls 18-20 lph.

They do not make hobbyist like they used to. What happened to the Nike mantra??

JUST DO IT.

I have a G2 as well. I just did a mesh mod using some old DLS pre-filter stuff that looks a lot like the enkamont. It seemed to be better then the stock pinwheel, but not quite as impressive as everyone elses. Perhaps its the Sedra 3500 thats just not quite enough for the G2's body?

The Deltec/H@S 1260 doesn't pull 18-20 LPM- It pulls 15LPM at it's very best....

Would you believe it ... My High School banned all "Just Do It" T-shirts from my school (when I was in HS)! They considered the phrase as "sexual in nature" ... rediculous.

Out of the box my H&S A250 pulls 17-18 LPM. No modifications needed. I can post pix for you if you like.

Additionally, I was stating that I had modified a stock Eheim 1260 and it was able to pull 18-20lph. I sold that pump.

OK just found the 250. I think one thing contributing to the higher numbers on your 1260's is only dealing with a few inches of head. The pump is only a few inches below the surface water level inside the skimmer. If I run my 4100's just under the surface I get close to 25 LPM....Awesome skimmer though for sure!

you right on the eheim 1260 it's pull between 18-20 lpm (when it's moded) , but the problem with this pump it's not spin stabile and some of those impeller not working good . the pump lose air somehow and the reading change all the time . it's can be on 18lpm and drop to 14lpm (this also was the reason why ATI decide to change this pump) without the mod the pump pull max 15LPM and on big skimmer like mine the air draw when need to increase the water level. this pump can perform good no more on 24" high total and on your size 2 of them can perform good .
it's a silnce pump but 2 of them take more watt then other pump and if you test 2 sicce pump on your skimmer size with total 44-48 watt the result on the skimming will be twice if not more in the collection cup . i test the original H&S pump and for my skimmer those pump give the same result as i got from the sedra 5000 with the mod impeller and less watt. i thought to try the eheim 1264 but the pump cost almost $400 and wasn't available yet in the us .

How much does the neck size of the skimmer effect its efficiency? I'm comparing prices on the true unions and the 4" is nearly double the price of the 3". For a 8"diameterx24"tall body skimmer, is a 3" neck big enough? Thanks!

Go with the 4" union for sure. Ralph, where did you find a Spears 4" union so cheap?

Not what your talking about regarding the pump is only a few inches below the surface.

Here is the skimmer running with VINEGAR and FRESH WATER.

10" body standing next to a fully modded G4+.
