How to keep hair algae off my Crocea
I have about a 3" Crocea that the outside of it's shell is covered with a type of hair algea. It's not the soft green type, but very bristley and feels like it is grown into the shell. I reach in every weekend and pull off as much as I can but I can't get it all off. The clam is also attached to a rock under my sand so I'm not sure I can take it out of my tank to do anything as I don't want to stress it out.
It does not seem to be bothering the clam any as it's been this way for a few months. It's just ugly and I'm tired of looking at it and pulling it off. Is there anyway to easily get it off for good? The problem in my tank isn't that bad and much less than it has been as I have been using Rowa for a while. Thanks |

The algae won't hurt the clam. It's just unsightly and you're right not to stress the clam for the sake of aesthetics. I would just keep doing what you're doing. As you keep reducing algae from the tank overall, the problem will take care of itself.

Thanks BlueWhale. That is what I was thinking. It is not bothering it at all. Fully extended and happy as a "clam".
