Hello all, I need aid.
I have one tridacna derasa, when it buys it was impressive brown, with electric blue white spots and edge. they have passed six months and now this completamnete brown with white spots... They need something special to maintain the color? or it already comprises of the growth? I am aditing, iodine, strontium, magnesium, ca, kalk, elements draw up this underneath MH and PC's Thk all |

Are you testing for iodine, strontium MG, alk, and trace elements? Unless you are testing for all of those your system may be seriously chemically unbalanced, especialy since this is only a 16 gallon tank.
In my opinion a derasa should not be in a 16 gallon tank, they are too demanding chemically on the system, and too sensitive to the changes. They are best suited to larger tanks. |

Like peabody said, derasas are the most sensitive to minute changes in water chemistry, especially SG. And you add all of those trace elements - do you test?
Unfortunately, 16g tank is not suitable for a derasa as they can get to be a foot or more...

Sorry
I have not explained myself well. The aquarium is of 42 gallons, and this illuminated with mh of 150w and 8x36w pc's. when the tapeworm in my aquarium was spectacular, but during 5 months it has been in another aquarium and when today I have been going to look for it me I have found it brown that. |

I still suspect your chemistry is out of whack with all that stuff you're dosing. What are your current readings for all that stuff?
