Pearl Bubble Coral
Last Saturday I purchased a Pearl Bubble Coral at the LFS and brought it home. At the store the coral was white and fully extended a perfect piece.
When I got it home I acclimated the coral took it out of the bag it was shrunken and brown. It still hasn't re-extended and turned white. I've moved it around the tank to a couple of different places but it's had no effect. What can I do? Tried giving it brine shrimp but it wouldn't eat it. |

Make sure it is not in a lot of flow, and of course I would make sure all levels are ok including your specific gravity.

Water quality most certainly could be an issue, but so could constantly moving it around. What kind of lights do you have on the tank, and how high up is the piece?
As ab said, they don't like to be in high flow, and that could be the problem too.

Dgen sorry to but in on the post but what would be the proper placement? What do you feel the proper salinity should be? THANKS for the help. I am having the same problem. BILL

Most inverts will do well in water at about 1.025. Bubbles don't like fast moving current, but the water should not be stagnant either. They also do not appreciate being too close to intense light. If you're running 400 watt halides, you want him to be mostly in a cave where he's protected from the majority of the light. PC or VHO, he can be in the direct path of the light, but not all the way at the top of the tank.

I agree with dgenr8 about the placement and to stop moveing it around all the time. Try to feed it a piece of squid or silverside if you have them, do so at night, after the tank lights have been off awhile as bubble coral likes to feed at night.
just wait for the tenicles to grab hold of the stuff, our bubble coral has a BIG appetite and will feed 24 hours a day, but when we first got it, it would only feed at night. here's a picture of it eating a whole fish.
