Am I Protein Skimmer stupid?????Help please

Ok, Within a fe months of my 60 g reef being set up, the guy from the lfs who set my tank up gave me a used protein skimmer. Its a Red Sea prism hang-on skimmer. There was a few DIY fixes that were on it but it seemed work fine. After a few months I just could not get it to skimmer, so i bought a really cheap one that is like a tall cylider with the collection cup on the top. Well cheap = not a great skimmer so the other day I decided to buy a new Red Sea Prism skimmer. Well I cannot get it to keep pulled up water, I've read the mannual and I dont know. What shud I do to fix this. It is brand new, any suggestions?

red sea prizm isnt very good for a tank that size... I suggest returning is and getting an aqua C remora... you dont need to adjust them, just empty the cup when it gets full

To get it to suck water you have to hold your finger over the pice of airline tubing that you cunnect to the colletion cup niple. Wait until you see the water going through the tube that goes into your tank. After it is sucking water you have to attach it to the niple on the collection cup that has the two dashes like, ll. you should hear the air getting sucked into the airline and its ready to skim.
