12 hours of light is what I use. From 11 am to 11 pm.

The brown algae is probably diatoms and should go away on it's own in time.

The green algae could be from nitrates or phosphate. You will need to test for each one to see.

As for fish, it depends what size in gallons you mean by nano.

Clowns or dottybacks that stay small would be a good choice.

No, a skimmer will not remove Nitrates or Phosphate.

Water changes, with water that doesn't contain nitrates or phosphates will help.

Some tap water does have nitrates and phosphate in it, so be careful where you get your water from.

There are filters that will clean the tap water.

Where are you from?

PC lighting is fine for actinodiscus. Check your alkalinity levels (8-12 dKH). Check calcium (400-450ppm). Check pH (8.1-8.3). Test for salinity (1.023-1.027). Stay within these ranges and you should be fine. Yes, a skimmer would do it. Also check out this link: www.garf.org.

There really aren't many skimmers made for small tanks that work well.

Not unless you test for them, and the test says they are low. You could add too much.

Regular water changes should be enough.
