Paranoia - Clay Pots Mfg in China

The older I get, the more paranoid I get. I have refused to use clay pots manufactured in China, given all the "crap" they seem to put into their products. Am I nuts, or have others questioned this. By the way, since I put my moratorium in place, haven't been able to find any clay pots NOT made in China. Used to be they all came from Italy.

I haven't used clay pots but I have had similar issues with slate tiles. I live in Australia and we have fairly strict quarantine laws over here. It turns out that since slate tiles are a natural product the vast majority of them are imported and fumigated on arrival in Australia. I think your point about pots coming from China has merit but as I have found with slate you may want to look at how these things are treated after manufacture as well. I am fairly cautious with everything I put into my tanks. An alternative to clay pots is a half clam shell (if they are available to you). My clowns love them and the eggs seem to adhere to the inner surface very well.

On the other hand we may both be nuts and are going completely over the top. I'll stick with my cautious approach.

Thanks for the feedback from "Down Under." I would LOVE to take on the offer of coming out to Santa Monica for some "home grown" clay pots. If some tuna steaks could be added, I might just book a trip tomorrow.

Seriously, glad to see I'm not the only one that is somewhat paranoid.
