Which Hermit crab is better for frag tank?

The blue legs or the red legs?

One is more aggressive and will kill your snails for their shells. I just cant remember which one.

I have scarlett in my tank and he's pretty much a nusiance. If there's anything that can be knocked over, he'll find it.

Next time I'm at the store, I'm getting some blue legs, and the scarlet is going into the fish only tank.

I'd go with the blue ones...

Guess what?

All shell dwelling crabs out grow their homes and will take out a snail for a new home. I have had better success with the Scarlet's re-locating at a less minimal frequency. If you are concerned about this, ask your LFS for some empty shells and toss them behind the LR in your aquarium and the crabs will use them IF they are getting enough food from your feedings.

The Blue Leg will spend "most" of the time on the sand bed.
The Red Leg will spend "most" of the time on the live rock.
The Scarlet Reef will spend almost all of the time on the live rock.

In a frag aquarium, with the frags secured on plugs/eggcrate, I still prefer the Scarlet reef crab.

Nice thanks for the information. I have a good ideal what I am going to get now. That will be a little of each =-) I dont want to have a lawnmower blenny because they like to perch on the frags.
