To lighten the mood....

Things be gettin' a little too fiesty folks. Enough of this:

'cause it's too freaking cold out! Why not instead collectively "awww" over the cute calf.

Both of the above photos courtesy of photog Jim Strathearn of southeast PA.

Or if you can't seem to manage that, here's a bear riding a bike courtesy of the Moscow Circus.

Do you know when those were taken? I'm guessing sometime in October?

I'm hoping I can get the big telephoto lens I want before this fall so I can take some elk pictures. Took a few last year but with a max of 135mm it ain't exactly long enough . (Nor sharp enough...) Here in a couple months when the snow goes off we'll be out horn hunting

Dino, below is a list of Jim's Nikon kit...I wish I had some of this stuff! According to his post, most of the close-ups were with the 500 prime and the group shots were with the 80-200. And the pics were taken this year.

D2H, D70, 80-200 f/2.8 One Touch, 500 f/4 P, 300 f/4 AFS, 50 f/1.8, 105 f/2.8 Macro, 18-70 Kit Lens, SB-800, PD70X

For everyone else, here's a cute puppy in the snow (random web pic):

That's not a bad kit! Especially if the prices for the lenses more or less correspond with Canon's equivalents. My wildlife lens is going to be a 100-400mm, although I'd love a even longer lens with a constant aperture. $$$ though...

Nina, I'd have to know where that puppy is at first!!! If I did, I would ship it to you!! It's mini-Simon!

Dino, yeah he does have a nice setup. I've noticed that Nikon and Canon lenses are pretty much similar in price (only off by a few dollars here and there) UNTIL you get up into the really long primes. I think around the 300mm range is where the prices change significantly and Canon comes in cheaper. Zooms are pretty close in price though from the quick look I gave it.
