RedSea Aquatic LFS

I know we have some great local fish stores around here and just a little farther out. RedSea Aquatic has been in business for years selling saltwater and freshwater. It is my secret store where nobody ever goes, but I think it is about time showcase them. The store is about 6 times bigger than YR and has lots of fish and two big coral display tanks. Heavy on supplies- sumps, lights, filters, food, just about everything. I think our BOD should go and check out and try to set something up for us MARS members. They are located at 214 7th Street, Marysville Ca 95901-- 1-530-749-2268.
There is also a new LFS that opened up in downtown Marysville- quite small and wasnt impressed. But do check out RedSea Aquatic

I've been out to Red Sea quite a bit, and picked up some nice pieces there, as well as a decent CUC. They've also been pretty good about taking in some of my live returns when something hasn't worked out as well as expected. Nice shop, same people that own and operate "O" Street (but I'm sure you all already knew that).

The other LFS in Marysville is Underwater Paradise......I was there this last Saturday and I have to say they had some really nice "high end" corals. I got a really nice acan lord for a great price.
Owner is super nice and very knowledgeable....
I say check it out!

If I may ask what were you not impressed with at the "other" store in Marysville?? I won't say anything bad about other stores but I will toot my own horn and say I have the largest and healthiest coral selection in town and my knowledge exceeds any other stores I have shopped at in the area. My prices for the most part are cheaper then other places as well. My fish selection is small but the healthiest you will find and I'm adding another 1000+ gallons of fish in the next few months. My prices are all marked so there is no guessing game there.

As a hobbiest myself I take pride in my store and any advise on how I could improve my store in your eyes would be appreciated.

I look forward to seeing your store soon Rob.

If anybody closer to his store can give him some feedback I am sure he would appreciate it.

Rob has been around MARS for quite a few years and I am confident that the tooting of his horn about his stores coral selection is correct.

I recall the demand for his Acan's three years ago were high.

I am happy for your success Rob!

I picked up a sweet deepwater acro at UnderWaterParadise while on a mission to pick up a reactor ordered from Rob. Nice corals, nice prices. Clean up or hide the work area in the back and you've got a great place. Thanks for the time you spent and knowledge imparted.

I was in Underwater paradise and have to say he's one of the nicest store owners I've run across...Very personable and willing to chat and give advice about anything you can throw at him. The Corals are very nice and the prices are clearly marked....I'd go back in a heart beat if I was local. The only drawback was that the store looked like a war zone. IMO, It's the worst "looking" store I've ever been in. After I got over deciding if anything could be healthy in there. I started picking through the frag tanks, which were very clean and HEALTHY. That's what it's all about. Great customer service, Large selection of healthy Frags and good prices. The lack of astetics and clutter is only a minor distraction. DID I SAY HOW NICE HIS FRAG TANKS WERE?

I know that Rob and John are always planning the addition of new tanks or on some trip down to LA or the bay to get some goodies for their respective stores. Rob must be doing something right

Rob, enjoyed your store and the good conversation. Learned two new things while I was there:

1) Cyclopeze is a brand name...
2) The closer SPS is to the surface, the thicker their branches

OK; rookie stuff I'm sure, but it's testament to Rob's willingness to chat with his customers and share his knowledge.

If you need some help with the war zone (we're pickin on you now then I'm sure some of us reef dorks would lend you a hand. Let us know.

Never been to his store (underwater paradise), but I would like to say that it is nice that Rob asked for feedback instead of imploding. Anyone that is willing to accept criticism can toot their horn all they want. Based on that alone, I'm willing to make the drive to check it out. Especially when his stuff is getting auctioned off.

I am going to point out the obvious..... Why in the world would anyone go anywhere near Marysville? I mean did the trailer parks in Rio Linda fillup or something?

I am happy to see that Rob's shop is getting good reviews as he is a cool guy. Please understand that if he were to ever clean the shop up and get rid of the clutter, he would make the locals in Marysville very unconfortable.

Actually it's the more flow the thicker the branches are and generally speaking there is more wave action closer to the surface

Hey Paul most of the Trailer parks have been torn down so don't be too scurrred 3200 Sq ft of brand new home for $300k lured me away from Sac

BTW, people talk and I listen the war zone is being cleaned as I type................well once I finish typing........now stop talkin smack

I work in Sacramento but live 5 minutes away from marysville. I have been buying stuff from redsea for over two years but let me tell you something after buying stuff there for two years they guy either thinks i don't know anything about prices anywhere else or they just try to rip people off. The prices for fish are decent but corals are ridicoulus. And the customer service decent. You might save a trip by going to O Street or Aquaworks because its the same owner and many times they can drive something from one store to another like they have in the past for me.
Underwater paradise in my opinion has better prices for corals, customer service is awsome too. Highly recomend. If anyone ever sees a coral there they like, i would be more than happy to drive it here to sacramento, I only live 5 minutes away from under water paradise.
Sorry if I skipped some threads, but i just wanted to post my experience with both of the stores.

I have been to Rob's store a couple of times and he has some great corals. He is a very knowledgeable person on all corals and fish and I am looking forward to going back soon.

ROB, YOU ROCK!!! Hope to see you at the next Chico Reef Club Meeting in January.
