Ballast doesn't like to fire up
I can't let the timer turn the MH on anymore because it just won't turn on. What I've been doing the last week is plugging in in manually. I'll plug and unplug it and replug it again and again until it finally fires up. I'll sometimes sit there for 5 minutes doing this before I finally get the MH to turn on. Once it's running it keeps going without any problems. I have a magnetic ballast, any ideas on what the problem could be, or what I could try replacing?
Thanks, Kyle

I had a timer on it to turn it on 5 hours a day. Now I plug it in when I get home from work, and unplug it when I go to bed, otherwise it won't turn on.

Does this sounds like it could be the capacitor? if so where can these be ordered?

Hmmm, Yeah, if it was a flouro I'd say it needs a new starter. But I'm not sure what in a MH would be the equivalent, if there is one?

You might as well replace the cap and transformer assembly as a set. Hamilton sells unassembled magnetic ballast kits to retro your ballast case.
