Cool Coral

You don't hear a lot about porites but this branching type is really nice. It is about 7" tall.

Here it is a year ago

I will frag it the next time I am going to a swap. I didn't even think about it for your swap Jim.

This piece was a throw in from an online vendor a few years back. When I got it it was a small mustard yellow blob with a couple of branches. I didn't give it much thought but tossed it into my tank. Several years later....

Morris ,
have you had any problems with the Flame angel as far as nibbling on the corals?

My wife wants me to get one for the reef and I am kinda hesitant to do that.

No problems with the flame, I have had him for ten years. I guess here is the place I am to put the disclaimer that any/all angels can nip at corals. I also have a coral beauty (11yrs old) that has never given me any problems.

I don't have any but it is my understanding that open brains are the most likely to get picked on.

nwrogers, if you are ever up my way (Oneonta/Cooperstown) give me a shout. At this point I don't have much to frag other than the porites. Most of my frags are from drbronx from your neck of the woods. I go down there every so often for soccer for my daughter.

That looks like a puple monti digi to me. What is the difference between that and porites? or is it the same?

Montis and porites are two different corals. The top picture is a little dark but it is really closer to a mustard color, more like the bottom picture.

Here is a link to various sps:
