Testing for coral toxins?

Is there a way to test a tank for high toxins from coral. I have 3 types of star polyps and other types of coral but cant seem to keep zoo's . Could this be from too many star poylps. Ive tried everything else and they want to come home.

Have you put this up in advanced topics yet? I would think someone there would know. I just recently had a large die off due to cold water and I lost every coral I had except a small pagoda cup. I know my water had to have toxins in it, I just haven't a clue as to how to test for it.

I don't know of any practical way to test for coral toxins directly. You could try a number of large water changes and a lot of carbon, to see whether that helps.

Testing for complex organic compounds is very difficult. Almost nothing is know about these compounds in the first place. Most of the evidence is based on observations of coral decline when other corals are introduced.
