Question crack in plastic part of glass aquarium

I have a bit of a crack appearing on my 55g glass aquarium on the top-central part of the plastic frame, has this occurred to anyone previously? The tank is quite old, maybe 15 years or so, don't know whether the crack could become a problem or not. What do you guys think? The crack is about 1 inch long, about 1/8th of an inch wide.

it might just be the tank plastic getting old, I personally would try to reinforce it somehow. however I have seen tanks that work great without any plastic reinforcement

Is it the center brace that is cracking? If so, i would say it is time for a new tank. A cracked center brace can be fixed, but if it is 15 years old, i wouldn't waste my time on it, as it will surely be having more issues in the near future. As cheap as tanks are these days, it's just not worth the risk of ruining all of your carpet and furniture over a $00 tank. If a center brace breaks on a 55, the glass is very thin, and will bow out, and can easily blow out all over the floor. If it is not the center brace and just the edging, i would still be planning a new tank, just not in the same hurry i would be in over the center brace.

There has been threads on this before, and it doesn't look promising. Even if you repair it, that will be temporary. I wouldn't risk saving $100 for a new tank and then end up loosing a $400 setup when the tank explodes.

It could last 1 day or it could last 15 more years but I don't think I would chance it.

a 5 foot long tank, times 2 feet tall, and 1 foot 2 inches wide, that's not 80 gallons, is it? Anyone have a rule on how to calculate tank volume in gallons?
