And also remember that you have the knowledge of all these experienced reefers at your disposal. I, too, prefer the "show me" method of learning rather than reading about it and I have learned tons from Reef Central. Keep the faith...you can do it.

Is that "Walter Strider" Get it....Tuxedo...

Strider.....This is one of the best places I have found for information. Anything you need to know is here and everyone is happy to help. As long as you go slow with your new "adventure" things will work out fine.
I too do better at hands on learning....Who wants to read a big book-Boring. Baby steps and lots of questions will get you where you want to be

The best advice is to get advice and have your questions answered prior to purchasing anything including and most importantly your livestock. People in this hobby make mistakes due to impatience(myself ncluded) not because it is a difficult hobby. You most certainly will have hurdles to jump but in the end the satisfaction of watching your happy healthy tank is the best. good luck.

The truest thing in reefing:
"Nothing good happens fast."
Have patience and your tank will blossom as the cherry trees on the side of Mount Fuji

Cheers, () : )

I just don't get it...

Strider, if you do your research before you in vest in anything, you should be fine.

Rule #1 never listen to your LFS. Unfortunatly, they are almost ALWAYS wrong

Rule #2 stay away from damsels!

well the tank is full, salted and coming up to temp, ive not put any LR in yet maybe tomorrow but probably Tues which will give the tank time to clear, under the advise of my LFS ive removed the sand which was a real pain in the jacksey but he said it would probably cause more problems than its worth.

Yeah, I'm sure that sucked, but it is actually pretty decent advice...your LR is probably going to have lots of stuff falling off and out of it and you might as well not let it fill up your sandbed when you could just suck it off the bottom or get it with a water change or crank up the flow and let the filter get it.

Cheers,

grimmjohn
