How to frag Toadstool?

I want/need to frag my Toadstool. It's growing quite large and doing very well. Is there an article somewhere?

Or is it real easy? Just pull it out, let it shrink, cut a wedge, put it back in the tank. Take the frag and put it in a small container with a rock and let it attach itself?

Yes, just as you said. Cutting any piece from it works. Although I've never had luck just setting cuttings in a location and having them stay. I will typically use either a toothpick with rubberbands or some fishing string to hold them in place. Just pierce it through the base and secure it to the rock. Within no time it will attach and start growing. And once it's attached, you can pull out the toothpick or fishing line.

Any reason to be worried about toxins being released in my tank?

Also, how big of a piece can I cut ? Does it have to be a wedge?Could I cut a Silver dollar? Can I cut multiple pieces? Would it be better to cut one big piece and then cut that piece into smaller pieces?

TIA
Jason

I would frag the coral then rinse it off in a bowl of tank water, it will slime a little bit still, but not enough to harm your tank. You can cut it however you like, I prefer at least a nickle size wedge, but it really depends on you, how many frags you want as well. I'd guess the larger the pieces the better though...

I have fragged a couple green polyp toadstools in the past weeks, they are doing very well, and have already encrusted onto the frag disk

Good luck and have fun !!

Toadstools are extremely resilient little buggers. Just take some sharp sissors and cut away. I attached mine with a toothpick and rubberband and it was attached in less than 10 days. It's growing like crazy now.

How do you attach with a toothpick and rubberband? Is there a pre-existing hole in the rock / frag disk?

Thanks,

Ryan
