Question Fish and cleanup crew in your tanks

If you have a propagation tank how about listing the fish you have in your system and if there is a purpose for them or not. Also list the cleanup crew you have.

I would be interested to see what most people keep in their tanks.

Oh, and maybe list the fish and others you use to have in your tanks but took out because they were bad to have in there for whatever reason.

I don't have any fish yet, my frag tank is cycling.

I'd like to hear what others have in their frag tanks as well.

I would say a six line wrasse would be good since they eat flatworms.

Yellow Corris Wrasse
Yellow Tang
Powder Brown Tang
Naso Tang
Long Spine Urchine - helps keep the coraline off of the glass
Emerald Crabs
Snails of all sorts

There are some better algae eaters than the tangs, but they make me happy!

I have heard that egg crate raises your phosphates. Is this true at all? How is the bare bottom working for you jessp? All I will be doing is zoas and acans. It is plumbed into my big system so live rock/sand filtration is not a big deal.

Yea I am not really sure. This is just what somebody told me. He had a problem with phosphates in his frag tank and when he took out the egg crate the phosphates went away.

What they mean is that stuff is going to settle below your eggcrate where it is going to cause nitrates, etc. !

well, my eggcrate is elevated about 3" from the bottom, and i have plenty of flow, i just don't see how it will create nitrates, i don't have sand, it just bare and i don't have fishes either, so no food waisted will be there or fish waste, just corals, nothing else... for now.... maybe later couple of beneficial fishes, like a six line and maybe a tang to help control algae & flat worms

i took out my eggcrate because i was able to keep the corals at different levels in the frag tank. some liked to be higher up some liked to be lower, also i have mostly zoas and they can spread out onto the adjacent rockwork.

Get a few turbo or astraea snails. I had some serious hair algae on my egg crate when I first set up my frag tank. I added one turbo snail and about half a dozen astraeas. In less than a week, the egg crate was completely clear of algae.
