It does look like a Magnifica (ritteri), but you need to show the base in a pic for a better id. They are a really chalenging anemone if it is one.

Hope all goes well with it.

That pick looks much more like a BTA, which would be really good news for survivability and ease of care. Still can't give a really good id though because I can't see if the base is smooth or if it has bumps on it.

Ok ive just been in touch with the Aquarium that it came from and he said that it was a Ritteri and the only reason he sold it to me is that he knows my water peramiters and lighting are the same as this was kept under at his place for many months,
He was saying that while the books are correct in saying these are difficult its not the rule and that most dont survive the first week or so,

So i'll just keep an eye out for it but thanx all for your help.

They are reportedly fairly hearty if they live for 6+ months tanked. They often die in the first six months from something to do with collection and shipping. Yes they can look really good at times as they slowly decline from whatever the trouble is.

Be prepared for it to get very big, 24 inches +. If you are successful with it please keep us updated as there are few of them thriving in captivity. Any info on a healthy one is interesting.

The one in my avitar (unfortunately lost in a tank crash) went from about 12 inches in diameter to over 22 inches in a matter of a few months with heavy feedings.
