A small crab. TBS calls it a red reef crab.

Dave - isopod looked almost like the one I saw in my tank. But I've had my fish in there since day one and the isopod hasn't touched them yet. Perhaps it's on a weight watchers diet! I dunno. I did read from Dr. Ron that some isopods are not parasitic/predatory - so I've been hoping mine is one of those. Anyway - can you see if your gramma has any "marks" from where the isopod was? I'm curious because I'm concerned that maybe the isopod is eating at night and letting go in the morning...

Not to sound alarmist - but Dr. Ron also shared that if the isopod had a brood - it's possible that there will be a lot more of those...

I know. I will have to monitor very closely. I have never seen one until today so that gives me a bit of hope.

The gramma does have a very slight indentation where the isopod was attached but if you didnt know where to look you would probably miss it.

The gramma is back out and swimming around today. I guess the isopod attack freaked it out yesterday and that is why it was hiding all day yesterday. Of course I would be freaked out too if I had some sort of alien creature attached to me sucking the life out of me and eating me alive!

Oh wait a minute, I used to have one of those. It is now called an ex-wife!!

Great shots of the tank DW. I love that brain, they are in the top 5 corals I really like.

The gramma sounds like he is okay if he is out and about, I think you caught it just in time or he would be all stressed out from the ordeal.

dw - i forget (and I prefer not to look thru pages of posts) but how long was it before the fish were introduced into the aquarium. I think it was like 2 months? Just wondering since i've read it's possible to starve isopods...

3 months for these fish, but the cardinal has been in there since the beginning.

I have read that it takes 6 months to starve isopods!!

garlic is an antibiotic and not a skin conditioner, so i would guess no.

Actually, he is doing great, he is getting in there and mixing it up with all the other fish. Eating, active and healthy!

I really need to get the grouper out before he gets too big to give to the fish store!! I is approaching 8 inches now and they will only take them below 1 foot. I have a $15.00 gift cert from this place, I figure they will give me about $10.00-$15.00 for the grouper and I can buy a new fish - one that WONT get to two feet in length!!

That's all they'll give you for the grouper? What would it cost if you went into a LFS to buy one that size?

I just saw one of the weirdest things ever. My largest anemone was WAY out, were talking 10 inch tentacles and at least a r inch base. Then all of a sudden it shurk and shriveled and would now fit into a small drinking glass.

Strange.

Yeah, I have seen them do it many times before. It is just one of those things that is hard to get used to. You have this huge, giant, beautiful anemone one minute, then you dont.

I've never experienced it before, but I can only imagine how weird it must be to see that!
