Has anybody glued gravel on the bottom of their tanks?

That would create very hard to clean area that would allow a lot of detritus to settle and rot. You could mix the gravel with epoxy and pour it over the tank bottom, but epoxy and sand would be a much better choice for a solid bottom.

Well the package says sand, but it's coarse sand.

I'll have a lot of converging and diverging flow with Hydor flo's on an oceans motions. It'll blow bare spots on the glass bottom so the glued on sand will cover it. Then I'll put a SSB on the glued sand.

Or maybe I'll just paint the bottom glass the same color as the SSB.

I saw a thread recently where someone mixed up some sand with an epoxy and it looked great, give it a try.

What type of epoxy would be good for this? I like this idea a lot actually for covering those base spots from extra flow. maybe a very thin layer on bottom glued, followed by an inch or so of regular loose sand.

I thought about doing this. The only drawback that is preventing me from proceeding is the coralline problem. Once it starts growing over it.....it won't look much different than a BB tank.
