pump size for diy ATO?

I am following the diy ATO on melevsreef and it is for a NC24. The water resivoir is at the bottom of the stand so there will be about 4 feet of head pressure. I know that i will not need a large power head but i am not sure if a small one will be able to pump up into my tank as i see most are only rated for 20" or less of head pressure. Any help would be greatly appreciated and remember i am a college student so i don't have big bucks for this project. Thanks again

I use two Aqua Lift pumps in series. When you use them in series they will pump to about 5-6 feet.

Same here. Works like a charm.

I used a powerhead at first but later switched to an aqua lifter due to noise. The powerheads always seems to make a loud click when the turned on at night. Aqua lifter is completely silent and great at night.

I've been thinking of switching to an aqua lifter pump instead of my maxijet... I think my maxijet dumps way too much water at once... I want the water to refill slowly...

The Aqualifters work perfect for top off systems. You never hear them, the fill rate is slow, and they do not need much maintence.
