mixing clowns

i have a single ocellaris clown that i've had since '99.

would adding a tomato clown and sebae clown be a bad idea in an 80x24x24 tank? a friend has asked me to adopt them. for now i think i'm going to put them in the fuge...will move them to the display if it's advisable.

thanks,
ben

oh - other fish in the tank:

tangs:
orange shoulder
desjardinii sailfin
powder blue

fairy wrasses:
painted
african exquisite
red (unidentified)

male lyretail anthias
2 female lyretail anthias

single fish:
green chromis
ora indigo dottyback
ocellaris clown
blue & yellow blenny (enchelyurus flavipes)

I have four maroons in my 400 gallon display..... When I added the second pair I thought it was a mistake because the two dominant females really went at it..... I got away with it because my tank is over 7 feet long and 3 feet high with anenomes on each side of the tank..... Now they all get along like one big happy family......

However, in your case I would not mix species of clowns no matter how big a tank you have. They will probably fight to the death or stess out and die before they have a chance to get used to each other..... More than a pair of clowns in a tank is risky (same species) but impossible with mixed species that are adults when you put them toghether.....

yeah, that's kind of what i figured.

they ended up in my sump, by mistake...i left the bag dripping in the sump and the bag tipped letting them swim out. so now they're swimming around together in a 100g stock tank.

If you keep them in your sump, its fine. But do not mix your clowns in your main tank!
