I should rephrase that. It seems the smaller clams are the bulk of what they offered, perhaps not the bulk of what they sold. Most of the clams offered were 2.5 inches when I was browsing. Small selection of 3.5 inch and larger -- like 5 or 6 that I could find.

I just got my first crocea last weekend. Do you plan to move yours up onto the rocks closer to the light? I have been looking for advice on this and that seems to be the general recommendation. I'm interested to hear how you handle the croceas from arrival to final placement if you don't mind!!!

That was the plan, however they keep tossing themsleves from the rocks back to the sand. I've decided to leave them on the sand a little longer. They don't seem to fuss much on the sand.

I put a small flat rock under my crocea with some sand over it to keep the clam oriented. I've been told that it will attach itself to this rock, then I can pick it up by the rock and place the rock where I want with the clam attached. I did that last night, hopefully it will be attached by this weekend...

I've managed to get one to attach to a small rock with a few bysal threads. Waiting for a more secure attachment before attempting a move.

Thanks! They are slow growers, but I think they'll be impressive hwhen they finally do get some size to them.

I have four more frags from 240-Reefer I still have to take a picture of. One of them, an acropora sp., really looks like it might be something special. It's showing signs of green,light blue, purple with yellowish/green polyps. It's like a box of crayola cryans melted over it. And seems like it might be a fast grower.

Had the first real (non-test) tank save from the Aquacontroller last night. I have it programmed to turn off the three metal halide ballast if the tank temperature crosses 85*F to help keep the tank cool. After 1 hour it will test the tank temperature again to see if it has dropped below 85*F to turn the lights back on.

Last night was a very humid night, even with fan blowing directly on the sump, room AC running the tank hit 85.1, the Aquacontroller turned off power to the lights. It triggered the alarm to notify me as well. If you have an X10 alarm box, it will be an audible alarm in the room (I don't have one). Or with attached modem it can call a pager to send an alert (which happened).

After an hour with the halides off and fan blowing on the sump (which is also temperature controlled, turns on at 82). The temperature dropped to 84.5 and the halides turned on again.

That's how I have mine set up too. My tank has only had that happen once, but one day I did have it happen while I was working in the sump. I think I had the probes hanging over the top edge of the display tank, and the MH were heating up the temp probe. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out why the lights were off when the in-tank thermometer read that all was well. I have two separate thermometers (Temp Big Alert & the Aqua Controller II) to make comparisons daily.

I never did get the alarm module, but I probably will. One club member has his set up to flash his front pole light on and off if the tank is in Alarm mode. That way his neighbor knows to come over and find out what is wrong if the owner is away. I'd love a light like that flashing on and off at my desk.

Wow.. today the tank was at 84.5*F before the lights even came on with the sump fan running non-stop. Floated some ice packs to get it down to 84*F.

Decided to program the Aquacontoller to not even bother turning on the halides for today.

Time to freeze up some 2 liter bottles.

Tank room is 80*F with 60% humidity, been raining for the last week or so (record rain fall). Very humid. I have a portable AC running in the tank room now to cool things off a bit, it's venting out of the dryer vent. (tank room is in the basement, below grade, no windows).

So normally you don't run the a/c unit? I've had mine running for the past 4 weeks around the clock, although the compressor only runs during the day time when things heat up, and the fan runs all night.
