158x turnover thoughts

so my 50 g BB sps tank is starting to get up there in flow... i like it

does anybody think i can hurt my sps with this flow as long as they are not losing tissue from direct flow?

Seems like you have it very divided, which is a good thing. I dont see why not. I had planned on another modded 6025 in the future, myself--putting me close to that (I think ~140x in a 75 with sand).

i have a small amount of sand left in the back im taking it out slowly siphoning lots of water with it so i dont nuke the tank.

it doesnt seem to be too much the sps are responding well. lots of new growth tips

All you have to do is remove the inside plastic cylinder. I used a razor knife and my dremmel. It restricts the flow and once removed, it pushes more than my 6055's. HTH

I am now running 4 Nano 6045's modded with at least 500GPH return on my 75 Gallon tank......LOVE IT!!!!!!!

GOT FLOW?

What does that give me in your opinion as for as turnover? I figure the nano's are somewhere around 1200GPH modded....am I right?

70X......?

you have 70x depending on your rock structure that could be plenty.

Congrats GSMGuy on your new flow. I see you went BB also, and no more carpet anemones. I ordered a 6055 with a single controller for my 56G, 40x18x18. I need one more don't I? Can I set the single controller on alternate mode? I want the gyre effect.

My tank has a 20G fuge with red gracilia, and main tank has a 1"SSB for now... might take it out later...

How's the vortech?

vortech is great

i think you need more than 2x 6055

since the multicontroller is so much from tunze id say just get a vortech to compliment the 6055

i dont know about the controller for 6055 yet mine gets here tommorow.

I was a bit iffy with the vortech as some people here had probs, but you're right, a vortech is more worth it than getting a multicontroller.

Keep us posted on the single controller.

I've got 7000GPH on a 30G display. You should be fine. Turnover rate is an arbitrary and mostly useless number.
