DSB in Overflow Compartment?

Despite the obvious drawbacks with the possibility of ever having to empty it, move the tank, or change out the sand, are there any drawbacks to filling your overflow with just 10-8" below the standpipe?

Gotta lotta extra sand to salvage.

Minimal benefit IMO. There's not enough room to do much with that.
