Thumbs up F.R.A.G. Swap December 1st!!

Remember the days when everyone brought coolers full of corals, burgers and dogs were cooked to perfection by volunteers, people talked about our hobby over frosty beverages (responsibly of course), and you left feeling like you truly “scored” on some great stuff?

We believe it’s possible to bring back that great vibe!

Its time for the MASVC first annual F.R.A.G. swap!
(Fish-Reef-Aquarium Gear)

On December 01 (12:00pm) we open the doors to a 2000 sq ft warehouse for some good old fashioned frag swapping. We’re trying our best to keep this event like the classic frag swaps of past.

Here’s what you can count on from this event:

• Great prizes raffled off after Brad (our President of Vice) finishes each beer!
• All the burgers, dogs and chips you can eat (please consider a $3 donation to our club).
• SPS, LPS, Zoanthids, Hardware and just about anything else you could want for your aquarium!
• Great deals!! (What’s the point in a swap if you can have it delivered to your door from the latest Ultra-Mega-Reef-Farm-Warehouse-Superstore for less?)
• A wonderful time!!

We need your help!!

• We need some of the local growers/backyard hobbyist who are dedicated to promoting this hobby because they love it and want to share (you know who you are).
• We need people to contribute to a potluck because Reefers cannot survive on burgers and dogs alone (Truthfully, I’m fishing for someone to bring those awesome lumpias I’ve had at Dave B’s swaps!).
• Spread the word! This IS the BEST way to stock your tank!

Amenities:

• A warehouse with electrical outlets galore!
• Free WI-FI (PayPal!!)
• Ray promises to raffle off a full-body seaweed and wheat germ wrap to one really lucky prize winner!!
• PLENTY of Free parking

Attention all reefers north of Ventura County – Now you don’t have to drive 3 hours to attend a Swap!!

Please note:

There will be limited commercial vendor space so please PM (private message) any of the following MASVC members for details:

blown63chevy
abendx
d0cdave
cayecaulker

If you’ve ever wanted to attend a classic frag-swap, want to sell/trade some coral or hardware, or just want to hang out with people who have similar interests, come by.

Everyone is welcome!!

Almost a 90 mile drive for me, but how can I resist burgers and lumpia!

Hey! I may actually be able to make this one!

Might be time to pull out the old turkey baster and make a bunch of mysid/gammarus/mini-brittle stars/mini grazer snail packs... oh, as well as a few obligatory RBTA clones. Maybe some ricordea and xenia too... Gotta start thinking about this...

Absolutely! Post what you might be bringing, and what you might wanna see at the swap. Make this YOUR swap!

I will have lotsa PC lighting goodies, some MH retro parts, various LPS frags, LPS frags, a couple overflow boxes. Depending on how things go I may even have some fish. All for dirt cheap!

Yep, everyone is welcome if you don't mind the drive.

Looking to get back to our "roots" so to speak. A good old fashion Sawp.

I'm going to try and sneak out some frags of the wifes green w/ pink tip frog spawn and maybe take a cut out of her yellow leather. I'll have to see what else I can find in the tank as I've lost just about all of the zoa's I used to have. But I do have some pick ones I cna try and sneak out of her tank as well. Just don't let her know.

My tank dosen't really have anything good growing in it yet other than the BIG fish and bubble corals that you see in the poster. Thanks Dave for the pic's.

It would be a GOOD idea to start a food list because:

1. I haven't had time for lunch today
2. It would be nice to keep track of whats being brought
3. We can figure out what is needed

MASVC will supply the following:

Burgers
Hot Dogs
Some Chips
Sodas

It would be great if we can get some volunteers to bring the following:

Paper towels
Paper Plates
Forks/knives/spoons
More food (lumpias anyone??)
BEER
Etc.

If you would like to volunteer and bring any of the above... please just post it on this thread.

We'll do our best to keep track of it all.

Thanks!

BEER.... Oh, I like beer! I will bring plenty (if the stapler guy lets me), BUT.... raffle drawings only occur after I drink yours!

This is it boys and girls.... lots of great deals, give-a-aways, fun, and the chance to meet reefers from near and far!

And don't forget, if you have to make a long drive to get here, it might make sense to spend the night.... the Ventura area beaches are beautiful in December!

The following day is the Ventura Holiday Street Fair. A bargaining tool for the spouse. Its usually huge (300+ vendors, the usual crafts fair stuff). Lots of chances to spend and break your holiday budget.
