Snails...
What kind of snails are recommend to my 2 years old saltwater tank? I have quite a bit of algae growing?
I found some good deals of NASSARIUS OBSOLETA CLEANING SNAILS on ebay. They sell 50 in a bag. Will it too many for a 29 gallon tank. Please check our pics in the gallery session for the algae. tks K. |

Those snails are actually Illyanassa obsoleta, and they are from temperate waters, with conflicting reports on how long they last. I would guess 5-6 would be enough for a 29g tank.
I can't tell much from the pictures, but they might eat those algae. I'd buy Trochus, cerith, or Stomatella snails, most likely.

They dont eat very much algae mine just clean the sand all day and night if you have a algae problem use a filter media to remove the phosphates something like phosban then get a few mexican turbo snails they eat algae there are a few fish you can get to eat the algae to like a lawnmower blenny and yellow tangs. And get some plants to add to your sump if you have one or just put them in the tank they will fight the algae for the nutrients in the water,

Ive used these for the last year or so, I love them. Mainly becouse there so cheap and becouse there highly effective sand sifters. At night they come out and graze on the glass but as far as algae control thats about it, youll almost never see them on your rocks. Becouse there temperate most do not live long, although ive found out that they live way past my $2 asterea snails
