Alright... what do I got in my tank?
I've been letting this stuff grow for a few weeks trying to figure out what it is. It started out as tubes, now its branches. Its red (obviously) and kinda see through, slimy to the touch, my goby likes playing in it, seems harmless and grew right out of the rock.
looks like red seaweed to me... any guesses? |

Looks like a very pretty macroalga to me, too. Can you get a closeup of a "leaf"? Does it have any tentacles, etc, not visible in the photo? Does it respond to touch in any way?

Thats about as good as I can do for pictures. Theres no tentacles or anything. its just those branchy things. I can touch it and it just feels slick no response of any kind, it feels like its water filled or jellyish.... but its mostly just slick, it'll slide out from between your fingers.

I'd guess macroalga. Dr Shimek might be able to say more. If you find a way to propagate it, let me know!
