Schooling fish

I have been trying to find which marine fish will school in an aquarium enviroment.

I have found:
Chromis, Damsels and some Anthias.

Are there others?

I was thinking maybe a school of firefish? Is this feasable? I have three that stick close together.

The absolute best IME for shoaling is:

Apogon leptacanthus

AKA- Threadfin Cardinals, Glass Cardinals, Blue Streak Cardinals

I love these fish. Not only are they low maintenance and light feeders, they spawn readily in aquaria and shoal peacefully and get along with other species.

They are not great shippers. I would order about 20 of them if you want 12 to shoal. You can see if you can find them at an LFS and then you don't have to worry about mortality in shipping.

They run about 10-20 bucks per fish.

Serioussnaps said shoaling fish, not schooling fish. Fish will not really school in hobby sized aquaria.

Firefish don't really school or shoal.

Look for green chromis, blue reef chromis, cardinals and anthias.
I personally like odd numbers like 5. If you want 5 then you may want to start with 7 as a couple may pass or jump. Also get them the same size as close as possible and if you get anthias, only 1M and the rest F.

I definantly recommend Apogon leptacanthus, very beautiful and arent to aggressive. As for the Bangaii cardinalfish a pair usually forms by the dominant male and female and then they end up picking off the rest of the bangaii's, unless kept in a large aquarium.

Banggais will eventually smack on each other when left in larger groups. Even when you are growing out babies, when they get into adolescence and there is too much size differential, things can get very ugly.
